I use the baseball grip……it’s one of the strongest grips but also the most hardest to remain persistent

quagmire444 on 12 October, 2010 at 8:35 pm #

for some people this grip will work and for some it wont. every grip is like that cuz everyones hand it different. i typically have problems with my grip because most of my hands are palms and not fingers. i have big hands but my palms are a lot longer then my fingers.

helenathena on 12 October, 2010 at 9:03 pm #

i am interlocking, distance, and a neutral grip, i know it might seem like i would be copying tiger but im not ive always found it easier to interlock to keep my left thumb position intact, plus i have very small hands, also keeping the club along my finger lines naturally places my left thumb in the neutral position, so try this method of griping that i use its honestly so much easier to sqaure

Um, how is Tiger’s grip a “Neutral Interlocking Distance Grip?” By the letters on your left hand Neutral and Distance grips are different spots, right? Did you mean “Neutral Interlocking Strong Grip?” Awesome video, thanks for taking the time and explaining!

I always used the baseball grip. I changed to the interlock grip recently but my right hand became painful. I think had had developed a repetitive strain injury as a result. I have since returned to the baseball grip. Are there any negatives to using this grip?? Id like to point out another issue I was having with my left hand. When holding the club in the ‘Control’ position the grip was slipping back into the distance position at the top of my backswing. This was closing the club at impact!

joiboi180 on 12 October, 2010 at 11:50 pm #

Haha, the face the right hand made was funny. “Huh!? Whats going on?”

StrayDog15 on 13 October, 2010 at 12:26 am #

I use the baseball grip. people claim the overlap and interlock grip are better for when your hands get bigger and you get artharitest in them and stuff is this true?

JAKEHARRIS281 on 13 October, 2010 at 1:14 am #

Just wondering, how do you know exactly what Tiger’s grip is? He has changed it. Some say in 2000 he has his thumbs almost underneath the shaft, and hank haney says that he now grips it in the left palm and not all in the left fingers. What are your comments AGameGolf?

great overview of all the different grips. the Distance, Neutral, Control on left hand was very useful. I use control for my short game and putting. feels much better.

Interesting to see that Phil Michelson Doesn’t think palms facing each other is the right way to go.

A very useful video presented very clearly. This is a must see for anyone who wants to learn how to develop a grip that fits their hands and their golf game! Great job on presenting this video!!

A change to a different grip WILL feel foreign at first. However, after a few sessions on the range AND seeing the results, you will be less inclined to go back to your old comfortable grip which was probably responsible for higher scores. Give the new grip a little time. You’ll achieve lower scores and greater confidence in your game.
